Episode Summary

Venturing through Utah: A Journey of Rediscovery

Michael kicked off his expedition with high hopes in Utah, hoping to capture the state's breathtaking beauty through his lens. Despite initial challenges, such as struggling with headlight frustration and navigating precarious canyon roads, he found solace in the incredible landscapes and a sense of connection to his late mother. The golden hues of fall grasses and the brilliant cottonwoods of southern Utah inspired creativity and evoked fond memories of her appreciation for his work.

While he was there, Michael also caught up with Nathan St. Andre, exploring new terrains and soaking up the serene landscapes along Escalante River and Zion National Park. The landscapes varied from vibrant fall colors to early foliage right along the park's main corridor.

Challenges of the Trade

Plans doesn't always go as planned. Michael and Nathan's workshop, which was expected to showcase the grandeur of these natural spaces alongside an invigorating overlanding adventure, did not garner the expected attention. Despite this setback, Michael's journey was an intense reconfirmation of his passion, allowing him to return home invigorated and with a treasure trove of images and experiences to share.

New Beginnings with New Workshops on the Horizon

On the horizon, there's excitement for ongoing learning opportunities. Jeffrey shared insights from hosting a successful fall workshop in West Virginia, while exciting announcements unfolded for upcoming workshops in the Smokies and Death Valley. Indeed, Jeffrey spent time in the Smokies to scout locations - and check the timing of fall colors - in preparation for their new fall 2026 workshop.

These workshops, developed after careful consideration of past feedback and new ideas, promise enhanced experiences with conference room sessions and streamlined accommodations that enhance logistical ease.

In Conclusion

Michael and Jeffrey's narratives remind us that exploration, creativity, and connection are intertwined in the photographic journey. Whether traversing familiar trails or embarking on fresh adventures, every step brings new stories worth sharing and learning from.
